Terrace Team

Kim Cooley

Salon Director & Principal Stylist

It’s hard to believe I have been a stylist for over 40 years and managing salons for more than 15 years. I started my hairdressing career as a young teenager and received my training under the guidance of French woman, Mimi Wilke at her salon, Hairstyles. Mimi was a massive influence for the city of Launceston, bringing out European hairdressers in the 60’s. These stylists brought with them new techniques and of course, fashion from Italy and France. I was extremely lucky to do my training with such a forward thinking, strong woman.

Over the years I have trained dozens of young apprentices and it is a privilege to help my employees evolve and have successful careers, armed with the skills needed to remain relevant in the industry into the future.

I started working at The Terrace in 1997 with Michael Digney, Robin Atkins and Gail Bendall. Michael and Robin encouraged my hairdressing competition work at the time and became terrific mentors from then on. Gail Bendall is still, to this day, my absolute trusted, go to person, for anything Terrace related. I was extremely proud to become the custodian of The Terrace in 2020 and I am committed to enhancing the personal and professional growth of my staff. The Terrace is so much more than a hairdressing salon. We become part of our client’s lives and I take great pleasure in watching them grow. Some were once in the arms of their mothers in the salon and have returned with their own babes in arms.

Callie Harris

Manager & Principal Stylist

After being in the industry for over 13 years, I’ve learnt that hairdressing is about a lot more than just the hair, it’s the experience of building relationships based on trust along the way, and that you can never underestimate the power that looking good = feeling good.

I’ve learnt that people want to look well put together and versatile but not have to spend all morning slaving away to create this look. As a result, chic yet effortless is where I'm finding my current inspiration. I believe a great colour and cut can help you achieve this.

I love the mixture of subtle and bold that I get to do on a daily basis and think it’s fantastic that no matter what point you are at in life, everyone can have a bad hair day and spontaneously want a fringe or colour their hair pink. I think one of the best things about my career as a stylist is that most of my clientele are growing up with me. It’s lovely to see some of them are getting married and settling down, even having kids, while others are still finding themselves. I am lucky to be there for the journey and to see clients becoming friends is the best thing of all.

When I am not in the salon, I enjoy spending time with my partner Drew and toy bulldogs, Colin & Jerome. I also enjoy weekends away with wine and cheese platters, DIY at home and crime-related tv or podcasts.

Sharni Tennant

Principal Stylist

Currently on maternity leave, returning in Jan 2025.

I’ve always had a passion and interest for the hair and beauty industry from a young age. As a former dancer and cheerleader, I spent a lot of my time being creative with different hairstyles and makeup for competitions.

Throughout my time at The Terrace, I have attended many workshops and seminars, which really helped me perfect my techniques. I enjoy getting to create different colours and styles, but my absolute favourites are a big bouncy blow-dry or a classic bob. Hairdressing is so rewarding because you get to make people feel great about themselves. The trust they give you when they decide to do something drastic, like chop all their hair off or change the colour completely. There is nothing better than seeing your client walk out of the salon with a huge smile on their face and you know that you made it happen.

I appreciate how encouraging and caring my team is at The Terrace. We are all so close and I believe that shows within the salon environment. I’m grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given and to all my clients who have been supporting me throughout my career.

I live with my fiancé Sam, and our two cats. You might even say I’m a crazy cat lady! We enjoy going fishing together and exploring Tasmania on the weekends.

I love shopping and keeping up with the latest fashion trends, so don’t ask me about my savings account!

Samantha Jones

Principal Stylist

I started my hairdressing career back in 2014, and have loved every moment of it since then. Hairdressing allows me to be creative and personalising a colour or haircut for my clients is one of the best parts. Getting to work behind the scenes at seminars with some of the best in the business has provided me with the drive and passion to create new ideas for my clients so I can help them achieve their dream hair.

Best lesson I received during my time in the hairdressing industry is that sometimes it’s not just about the hair. Clients also love the experience of coming into a beautiful, relaxed space. That experience could be the highlight of their day. I’m so appreciative that I have such lovely clients, that have shared so much of their life with me. I have been there to congratulate in times of celebration, offer comfort in times of sorrow, or just be there for a good chat.

When I’m not working in the salon I love spending my days with my beautiful daughter Florence and my husband Rohan.

I look forward to catching up with my existing clients, and getting to meet new ones.

Isabella Sing

Principal Stylist

I've grown up being exposed to the hairdressing industry as my mum is a stylist and it's always been my dream to follow in her footsteps. It’s been such a joy to work alongside the team at The Terrace and receive such great experience through in-salon training, workshops, and competitions.

I really enjoy pushing myself out of my comfort zone, it has made me realise how much more I am capable of as a stylist. What I love most about working at The Terrace is that we are a family. We have such a diverse clientele, it’s great getting to chat and create a style for someone of any age. I really enjoy all types of colour work and formal hairstyling. Whether it be for a wedding, school ball, or a night out, it’s so rewarding getting to make my clients feel special.

I also have qualifications for your beauty needs too. So come see me and I can freshen up your brows and lashes.

I am a very family-orientated person, having grown up within a large Italian family. I live with my partner Eddie and our pups, Pepper and Ace. We are currently renovating our first home together. When not in the salon I love camping, 4WD action and spending time at the beach.

Taleah Harrison

Stylist

Hairdressing has been a dream job of mine since I was a little girl.

I've always had an interest in all things hair and beauty so I was excited to be doing my hairdressing apprenticeship at The Terrace Hairdressing salon, especially with the extensive history they have in the industry here in Launceston.

I particularly enjoy all aspects of styling,

In my spare time i enjoy catching up with friends, playing netball and binge watching a good series or movie on Netflix.

I am taking bookings and I would love to look after you!

Chloe Fowler

Salon Coordinator

My career in the industry started back in 2011 when I joined The Terrace as an apprentice. I spent 8 years as a stylist before taking a short break from the industry. I’m so delighted to be returning to Terrace Hairdressing in a new role as salon coordinator.

It’s been lovely returning and seeing so many familiar faces, and new ones too.

As some people already know, I have a keen eye for detail, so managing the salon is the perfect fit for me. You’ll either see me at the front desk, or around the salon keeping the other girls organised.

Ella Blackwell

Emerging Stylist

I showed a very keen interest in the hairdressing industry from a very young age.
I loved going to the salon with my mum and watching all the stylist work. I would head home and set up my bedroom to replicate a salon, and even managed to find myself a ‘client’ in our neighbour.

I completed my Cert II in Hairdressing at Newstead College, and it confirmed that my passion for hairdressing and entering into the industry was the right career choice for me.

I love seeing and talking to our clients and being able to do something creative everyday.

In my spare time I enjoy moving my body with Dance & Zumba. Spending time with my partner and going back to Bridport to see family.

I’m looking forward to attending Sydney Hair Festival this year and learning as much as i can.

Lilly Reeman

Emerging Stylist

I’ve made the big move from King Island to Launceston to start my Hairdressing Apprenticeship at The Terrace Hairdressing and I couldn’t be more excited.

I’ve previously completed my Certificate II in Hairdressing Services at Hellyer College at Burnie. While completing my studies I developed a keen interest and passion for all things hair!

So far I’ve completed my 1st year of training and a highlight was participating in TasTAFE Hairdressing Competition for 2023 and winning the 1st Year Apprentice Top Stylist category. The theme was “slick, shine & style” incorporating finger waves and pearls.
I really enjoyed participating in the competition, challenging myself, learning new skills. It even made it onto 7NEWS and the examiner, which makes me a celebrity back home on the Island. I was expected the red carpet to be rolled out on my last return home but that wasn’t the case.

In my spare time I enjoy cooking and decorating cakes. I also love going to concerts and festivals. I’ve recently been to P!NK, G Flip and PITP. Any chance i get i do love to fly back home to King Island and visit my family and friends.

I’m looking forward to going to Hair Festival in Sydney and attending as much education as i can this year.

Madeleine Hughes

Emerging Stylist

I’ve recently started my Hairdressing Apprenticeship at The Terrace and I couldn’t be more excited and eager to learn all things hair.

My interest in the hairdressing industry started from my grandmother, she was a hairdresser and previously owned a salon in Launceston.

In my spare time I enjoy being with my family, especially with my 3yr old niece and my partner. I’m not much of a nature girlie and I don’t like the idea of camping unless there is a bathroom.

I’m looking forward to a holiday i have planned in November, to Sydney with my partner. We have tickets to see Coldplay and I can’t wait to see them live!

I currently enjoy blow drying and I’m looking forward to all aspects of my training but I especially can’t wait to dive into colouring, the theory and science behind it.
